December 7 – The culmination of our second grade’s cross-curricular study of the Iroquois League of Nations was The Gathering, a presentation showcasing all that students had learned using song, dance, storytelling, and art.
Students in each class worked together to write their own legend and painted beautiful murals of their legend during art class. After learning about the False Face Society and wampum, students designed their own unique masks and wampum belts. All their work was proudly displayed in the Sky Room for one of the best second grade performances RCS has seen!
December 14– Kindergartners learning about the special people and places in their community were excited to share all they had discovered with parents and guests in the Sky Room!
December 2018 – RCS students in Grades 5-9 enjoyed a fall athletics season of not only healthy competition, but also learning the invaluable lessons of teamwork and sportsmanship.
December 6 – In conjunction with Antarctica Day, students in Grades 2, 3, and 4 researched, experimented, and learned about life in Antarctica during science class.
December 6 – Learning Immersion Day #3 brought the Class of 2019 to New York City on a mission of international diplomacy in the morning and an exploration of ancient civilizations after lunch.
November 20 – "Canstruction allows an opportunity to engage and have fun with a service project that supports our local community," Head of Upper Campus Matt Hall said as he explained why there were cans of food spread out on the floor of the Playhouse.
November 20 – As families and as a community, it’s important to take some intentional time together – especially with the excitement of the holidays approaching.
November 7&8– RCS sixth graders packed the Playhouse with Annie JR., a family-friendly musical that had the audience singing all the way to the parking lot!
November 17 – Rippowam Cisqua School held Admissions Open Houses on Thursday, October 25 for our Lower Campus and Saturday, November 17 for all grade levels.
November 6 – In first grade science, lab-based learning emboldens students to learn through discovery as they investigate the physical world around them.
October 16– Alumni, parents of alumni, former trustees, and current and former faculty and staff gathered in Centennial Hall on the Upper Campus to honor the memory of former Head of School Richard L. Wade, who passed away in November of 2017.
October 24 – Sixth grade visited the Chuang Yen Monastery in Carmel, New York, a Chinese Buddhist monastery run by the Buddhist Association of the United States.
October 3-4 – The fourth grade overnight trip to Camp Jewell was an incredible opportunity to test students' stamina, cooperation, perserverance, and communication skills.
Thursday, October 4 – The RCS Garden Club members – Hazel Cameron ’23, Paige Eaves ’23, Caroline Kelleher ’23, Stella Levy ’23, and Kindergarten teacher Nicole Levy – are thrilled with the installation of the beautiful new garden on the Upper Campus.
Friday, September 14 – Ripp Rally Day 2018 was a great day for tug of war, relay races, games – and for the Creation Station, a pop-up outdoor art studio for creating an RCS mural with recyclable plastic bags.
Friday, September 14 – Middle School students traveled to the Lower Campus to meet up with their younger partners for Ripp Rally Day, a day that revolves around community building and having fun.
June 2018– Spanish teacher Kathy Perry was one of 18 world language teachers selected for the TPRS Academy teacher training in Jamestown, Rhode Island, over the summer.
June 5, 2018 – The annual celebration that marks the end of a student’s time on the Lower Campus is a treasured tradition at Rippowam Cisqua School – for some families, it has been a 7-year journey from JPK to fourth grade.
May 11, 2018 – We began an embryology unit in Kindergarten by discussing the difference between oviparous (hatch from an egg) and viviparous (give birth to live offspring) animals.
March/April 2018 – At RCS service learning events, students have been learning more about the concept of philanthropy, what it means to be a good neighbor, and how their acts of kindness and generosity make a difference in the lives of others.
April 5, 2018 – Fourth graders visited Endeavor Therapeutic Horsemanship in Mount Kisco, New York, on a field trip designed to complement their Language Arts curriculum.
February 23, 2018 – “Night Party, Night Party,” the Kindergartners chanted as they ran down the hall with their flashlights to begin an evening of culminating activities for their Night Unit.
Friday, January 26 – RCS ninth graders, partnering with volunteer organization Midnight Run, traveled to NYC on a cold winter night to distribute food, clothing, and toiletries to the homeless.
January 21, 2018 – Rippowam Cisqua’s robotics team had a strong showing at FIRST LEGO League’s all-day competition at Solomon Schechter School of Westchester – the RCS team placed fourth overall.
November 21, 2017 – The RCS community came together in Centennial Hall to honor and celebrate Ashley Harrington on her retirement after 35 years of wonderful service to RCS.
