Five Geography Bee Finalists
Congratulations to the 2016 Geography Bee finalists!
On Wednesday, January 13, eleven semifinalists took to the stage in the Upper Campus Crosby/Fiala Playhouse; five students earned a spot in the finals. The questions were challenging but, when students were unsure of an answer, they were encouraged to take a risk and make an educated guess rather than simply passing. This strategy was successful on several occasions, and the student audience was so supportive and respectful that you could hear a pin drop throughout the competition. In fact, both teachers and students were literally at the edge of their seats. An entertaining and educational event, the RCS Geography Bee is part of a national event sponsored by the National Geographic Society that nurtures student interest in, and passion for, the subject of geography. Each year, thousands of schools take part, using questions supplied by the National Geographic Society. The winner of Rippowam Cisqua’s Geography Bee will go on to a regional contest.
The five RCS Geography Bee finalists are:
Zachary Breault
Sam Federman
Cameron Hackett
William Kallman
Wesley Neidhardt
We will update this after the finals on Friday, January 29, at 8:30 a.m. in the Playhouse. Stay tuned!
