Nines in New York
November 5 – Ninth grade students on a Learning Immersion Day visited the Museum of the City of New York to explore the Activist New York and New York at Its Core exhibits.
Students were asked to identify two artifacts from the exhibits to use as part of their upcoming Protest Projects for their English and humanities classes. Students also spent time creating a section of New York City in the museum’s virtual reality design center. Following lunch at Grand Central and a walk through Bryant Park, students spent time at the Morgan Library, which complements their current study of early civilizations in humanities and their reading of Gilgamesh in English. The tour included discussions of ancient mythology, themes in early Sumer and Mesopotamia, and an opportunity to play with Sumerian seals.
