Wade Gymnasium

Dick Wade served as Head of Rippowam Cisqua School from 1983-1993, and he did so much to strengthen the RCS community during his decade of leadership. At the gathering, many remembered him fondly as a strong and even-keeled leader, and a pivotal figure in the history of the School. The event also served as an opportunity for the School to officially rename the Lower Gym on the Upper Campus in Dick’s honor and memory.

 

At the event, Head of School Colm MacMahon spoke about Dick’s long-lasting impact on RCS, and former trustee Roger Vincent ‘59 spoke about Dick’s leadership as well as the search process that led the School to hire Dick to lead the community. Dick’s wife, Cheryl, and their son, David, were the guests of honor at the event, and many in attendance took the opportunity to share stories and wonderful memories of Dick’s tenure at RCS with his family.

 

The evening culminated with the unveiling of the newly renamed Wade Gymnasium. During his time at RCS, Dick oversaw the construction of and fundraising for the Lower Gym, and he was also a passionate basketball fan and coach. The renaming of the Gym was made possible through the support of several former trustees who served during Dick’s tenure. The RCS community extends its sincere thanks to all who helped to make the renaming of Wade Gymnasium possible, and the School salutes Dick for his many years of invaluable leadership. The impact of his great work is still felt today.
