Athletics

At RCS, we know that children learn better when they are active and view our playgrounds, playing fields and gymnasiums as important extensions of the classroom. Starting in PreKindergarten, our Physical Education program is designed to promote self-confidence and build awareness of body, movement, and health. Interscholastic athletics begin in fifth grade with an emphasis on participation so that students of all levels of skill and experience feel supported. Our competitive varsity teams offer students in Grades 7 through 9 the opportunity to be challenged as athletes as they work toward taking their skills to the next level.

Learn to Skate and Beginner Hockey

Every Friday afternoon, 48 eager young skaters take to the ice for our unique Learn-to-Skate and Beginner Hockey Programs. Coach Lou Tocco, along with members of the RCS varsity hockey team, promotes the basics of ice skating for students who are new to the sport, while working on passing, stick handling, and shooting with first through fourth grade students who are ready for small games and scrimmages. The program incorporates plenty of fun games and drills.
