Tuition

Independent schools are known for high academic standards, small classes, exceptional teacher quality, and a unique commitment to child-centric, mission driven education. Tuition at Rippowam Cisqua School is all inclusive and covers all meals, snacks, school supplies, science labs, textbook rentals, athletic uniforms, activities, elective arts, and field trips, as well as costs for overnight trips including the seventh grade trip to Philadelphia, the eighth grade trip to Washington, DC, and the ninth grade year-end trip.

To assist families we offer two payment plans:

  1. Tuition paid in two installments on or before July 1 and December 1.
  2. Enrollment in a 10-month interest free payment plan, which enables families to spread the cost of tuition over the school year.
A non-refundable enrollment deposit of $2,000 is due upon the return of the signed enrollment contract. The deposit is credited to tuition charges.

Financial Assistance

An investment in your child’s future
At Rippowam Cisqua School, we recognize the lifelong value of an independent school education and believe that the expense of attending RCS should not deter any family from applying. Approximately 25% of our students receive tuition assistance. Grants are need-based and vary from several thousand dollars to significantly more. This year, RCS awarded over $2.9 million in financial assistance to students from a variety of economic backgrounds.

RCS employs the services of Smart Aid, an online financial assistance application program. All families, both new and returning, can access the application by using the Smart Aid link on this page. Please click HERE for detailed instructions on how to use Smart Aid.

Once awarded, Financial Assistance is given outright and does not need to be repaid. Families receiving aid must reapply each year to maintain their assistance. Unless there is a significant change in annual income or available assets parents can normally expect the level of assistance to be continued from year to year.

  • How is need determined?

Applying for Financial Assistance does not affect one’s chances for admissions. We are committed to helping families with demonstrated need afford the cost of an RCS education. As a non-profit institution with limited resources, we expect that parents will partner with us in this endeavor. Applicants should be aware that:
    • RCS expects parents to utilize all other sources of tuition support including available loans or gifts from family members and outside sources.
    • Awards are granted on the basis of need; there are no merit-based scholarships.
    • All financial assistance is awarded as a grant against the annual tuition; RCS offers no direct parent or student loans.
    • The financial aid process is totally confidential. Neither teachers nor other parents know which students receive funding.
    • Each family’s unique situation will be assessed carefully.
  • What should I know before applying for assistance?

Financial assistance is awarded based upon a family’s demonstrated need. Smart Aid, an online financial assistance application program. Income, assets, and debts - as well as a family’s size and cost of living - are all taken into account.
  • If my child is admitted without FA, might there be aid available down the road?

Yes. In the past, if financial circumstances change dramatically, we do what we can to accommodate our families. As with all of our Financial Assistance applicants, you must submit all the paperwork and the Financial Assistance Committee will review your application.
