  • Grade 6 Science Teacher

    Rippowam Cisqua School, located in Bedford, New York, seeks a dynamic educator to teach three sections of Grade 6 science on our Upper Campus (Grades 5-9). In addition to teaching, this individual will serve as a Grade 6 homeroom teacher. Ideal candidates will also coach one or two seasons of fifth/sixth grade athletics.

    The Grade 6 curriculum focuses on human biology, health, and energy systems. Students explore the anatomy and physiology of human body systems, including the reproductive system and stages of development. In addition to developing curriculum-based instructional materials, the candidate must have a comfort with and ability to create lab-based instruction.

    The Grade 6 science teacher reports to the Head of Upper Campus (Grades 5-9), serves as a key member of the sixth grade team, and works collaboratively with the science faculty in Grades 5-9.

    The ideal candidate will have experience teaching at the middle school level, a keen understanding of the developmental needs of this age group, a collaborative spirit, and a sense of humor.

    Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, although a master’s degree or higher is preferred. Rippowam Cisqua is very interested in meeting candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, especially those from groups historically underrepresented in independent schools.

  • Head Teacher - Lower Campus

    Rippowam Cisqua School, located in Mount Kisco, New York, seeks a Lower Campus (Grades Pre-K through 4) head teacher. The head teacher is responsible for the overall academic experience of one section of a grade, as well as the supervision and mentoring of an assistant teacher. The head teacher, in partnership with the assistant teacher, is responsible for Language Arts, social studies, mathematics, and other general topics. Students are in specialist groups for Spanish, science, physical education, and art.

    Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, although a master’s degree or higher in a field that directly correlates to teaching and learning is highly preferred. Rippowam Cisqua School is also seeking experienced candidates who understand the unique nature of independent schools. Candidates who represent traditionally underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Learning Specialist (Grades 5-9)

    Rippowam Cisqua School, located in Bedford, New York, seeks an experienced educator to serve as a learning specialist on our Upper Campus (Grades 5-9).  Ideal candidates will have experience working with middle school students, as well as having served in leadership roles within independent school learning support programs.  

    The ideal candidate will have an educational background in learning support, as well as experience teaching at the middle school level. The ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents is a must. Most importantly, this person must possess a collaborative spirit and a keen sense of humor.

  • Math Specialist (PreK – Grade 4)

    Rippowam Cisqua Schools seeks a qualified, full-time Lower Campus math specialist and teacher.  The ideal candidate will have a deep passion for and knowledge of mathematics instruction in both Early Childhood and Grades 1 through 4.  

    The Lower Campus math specialist will:

    • Create and oversee the Lower Campus math curriculum  
    • Ensure that the math program challenges all Lower Campus students, particularly those with a demonstrated history of high mathematical achievement  
    • Teach math classes or groups to a range of Lower Campus grades
    • Communicate with parents on topics of curriculum implementation and assessment
    • Will be expected to host “Math Mornings” for parents to better understand the School’s math program and philosophy
    • Work in partnership with the Division Heads, curriculum coordinators, and the faculty to ensure consistency and understanding of expectations between the Lower and Upper Campuses

    Requirements for the position include:

    • An advanced degree in mathematics or a comparable subject
    • Candidates must have significant experience teaching mathematics in a school setting, with lower school experience greatly preferred
    • Detailed knowledge base of preeminent teaching programs and methodologies for math, including TERC Investigations and Singapore Math, as well as any new, emerging programming
    • Informal colleague evaluations and mentoring
    • Fluency with technology
    • A genuine sense of humor, intellectual curiosity, flexibility, and a sincere interest in being part of a team

  • Psychologist/Counselor (PreK – Grade 4)

    Rippowam Cisqua School, a coeducational, independent school with Campuses in Bedford and Mount Kisco, New York, serving grades PreK through Grade 9, seeks a part time Lower Campus (Grades Pre-K through 4) school psychologist/counselor with significant elementary school experience to help and support our students as they live our mission to create independent thinkers, confident communicators, and engaged leaders who respect and contribute meaningfully to a diverse and increasingly complex global society.

    Essential Functions:

    • Interpret evaluations or reports from outside providers; advise and assist faculty and parents with implementing recommendations for students with learning differences and/or social or emotional support needs
    • Serve as a liaison between the School, students, parents, and outside professionals to support our students
    • Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and Lower Campus learning specialists regarding students’ needs
    • Provide direct short-term counseling for students and maintain accurate records of any counseling services
    • One-on-one parent consultation as needed
    • Meet regularly with the Head of Lower Campus to provide support in responding to issues that may impact the Lower Campus community
    • In partnership with the Head of Lower Campus, recommend outside evaluation and services to as needed
    • Classroom observations of students at the request of teachers, administrators, or parents
    • Maintain knowledge of community resources and mental health providers
    • Open and regular communication with the Upper Campus psychologist

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Master’s degree or greater in school counseling, psychology, or an M.S.W.  
    • 3+ years of professional experience, preferably in an elementary school setting
    • Familiarity with assessment and screening tools for elementary school students
    • Ability to communicate and advocate effectively with faculty and parents
    • Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality of sensitive information
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and organizational skills
    • Participate in professional development training
    • Sense of humor and genuine desire to be part of the team tasked with the care and education of our young students

  • Assistant Teacher (PreK – Grade 4)

    Rippowam Cisqua School is a PreKindergarten through Grade 9 independent country day school with Campuses in Bedford and Mount Kisco, New York.  RCS is known for its high academic standards, small classes, exceptional teacher quality, and a unique commitment to child-centric, mission driven education.

    The Assistant Teaching Program at Rippowam Cisqua School provides “on the job” training for assistant teachers interested in elementary education. This is a unique mentoring program for recent or current MAT, M.Ed. program, and college graduates interested in elementary education. Classroom placements range from PreKindergarten to fourth grade. Each assistant teacher is assigned to a homeroom and works directly alongside a head teacher to provide instruction to students in language arts, mathematics, and social studies. Love of learning and children, as well as a sense of humor, are essential.
