Celebrating Black History Month

To celebrate Black History Month, Kindergarteners through ninth graders recently participated in a special assembly led by our C.A.F.E. students. They learned about the history of this month, explored this year’s theme — African Americans and the Arts — and learned about inspirational Black figures throughout history. The Upper School Jazz Band even performed “So What” by Miles Davis.

Students also learned about the artistic tradition of quilting, especially in the Black community. All students in JPK-Grade 9 helped to create this quilt, now hanging in Centennial Hall, in honor of Black History Month.
